Unna are limited edition bags, a lovingly crafted amalgamation of wood and textile focusing on organic forms with a timeless elegance. Handmade for a pop-up sale at the Polygon Gallery. 


Made with reclaimed materials, a 100% Cotton twill and eucalyptus/ walnut veneer, these artisnal bags embody a sustainable lifestyle as well as an accessible luxury. 


Highlight

The unique organic shape achieved through bent veneer not only creates a captivating form but also imparts structural integrity. This design ensure that the bag maintains an upright position when open, allowing the user easy access. 

 

Key Skills

Some of the key skills required to create Unna by Charcoal were:

Ideation and Sketching

Prototyping

Extensive prototyping in paper, cardboard, cloth and wood to figure out how to seamlessly integrate the wood panels to the cloth body. 

Woodworking

Making molds and jigs along with laminating and processing veneer. 

Patternmaking and Sewing

Picking materials, creating patterns, sewing and finishing the body.
