Benchmark: Co-designing with KGMS

Benchmark uses co-design methods to create an environment with two neurodivergent students that fosters collaboration and negotiation through play. The project included creating a space for feedback and using that feedback to adapt the direction, process and output of the project.

It also blends traditional printmaking methods with digital making strategies like modelling and laser cutting to create intricate designs.

Highlight

Benchmark centers play and engagement to create a welcome learning space for neurodivergent students. This shifts the focus from traditional modes of knowledge sharing to and embodied approach to learning by doing and exploring.

Key Skills

Facilitation ( Probe Kits and Co-creation Sessions)

Facilitating using a variety of materials and instruction levels to gauge comfort and interest as well as a direction for the project.

Material Research

Experimenting with a variety of natural dyes and testing their durabililty and resilience to exposure with light and water. Further, experimenting with how they can be used to print.

Pattern Exploration and Printmaking

Exploring the blending of tradition printmaking methods with digital making strategies like modelling and laser cutting to create intricate printing plates. Testing out how they print on a variety of different fabrics and their longevity.

Prototyping and Testing

During prototyping we considered weather proofing, drainage, mobility, safety, assembly and transport.
